Responsible sourcing begins at the source.
We know our producers in Madagascar, visit them in person and guide the supply chain from selection and quality control to processing, documentation and delivery. This adds value in the country of origin.
01 / Our selection
High standards for every partnership.
We work only with producers we know and assess against strict standards for people, the environment and traceability. Our producers work with organic certification through Ecocert, Fairtrade certification through FLOCERT and Rainforest Alliance, and are affiliated with Sedex. SKAL plays a role in the organic supply chain in the Netherlands.
Certification applies to the relevant producer, activity and product stream. Our vanilla is 100% traceable to the grower or cooperative in Madagascar. For each lot, we check which certification applies and have the quality analysed by specialist laboratories. We also oversee documentation, import and delivery ourselves.
02 / Growers and value at origin
A strong supply chain starts with growers.
We work with small-scale vanilla growers in Madagascar. Local collaboration, training and processing help build skills and economic value in the region.
03 / Trees in Madagascar
Tree planting you can explore.
Our producers planted 2,383 trees in Tamatave and Sambava. Another 10,000 trees are planned.
Growers received training to raise young trees themselves in the coming years.
Planned in the Analanjirofo region.
